Come Stamp With Me "Happy Spring" Cards

Today, I am starting to post cards from the Come Stamp With Me classes in March, April, May, and June.  I will continue to do this over time until they have all been posted.  The card for today's post is Spring Birds on a Branch.  I really love this card and believe it can be used for many occasions; Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Thank You, Congratulations, Retirement, etc.

I created this card using products from the SU 2018 Occasions Catalog and the SU 2017-18 Annual Catalog.  Many of the products I used are now available in the SU 2018-19 Annual Catalog.  See the Supply List below.

For the front of the card there are many pieces to
create this beautiful scene.  The card base is made
using SU Whisper White Thick.  The Whisper
White Embossed piece is 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 and embossed
using the Petal Pair Embossing Folder.  The blue
panel for this card was made using SU Soft Sky cardstock
which is now retired.  I would use SU Balmy Blue instead.
The panel is embossed using SU Falling Softly Embossing
Folder.
Adhere the white embossed panel on top of the blue
panel, there will be a small overlap.  The two panels
together should measure 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.  Take the 7" piece
of white organza ribbon (retired), you can substitute
SU Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon or Lace Trim, adhere it
to the white and blue embossed front panel using
mini glue dots or tape.  Adhere the panel to the front of the card.

Using SU Whisper White cardstock stamp 3 birds from the
Petal Palette stamp set in Memento Black.  Using SU Light
Cherry Cobbler Blends and the SU Lift Off Blend, color
the breast of the 3 birds.  Die cut them using SU
Petals and More Thinlits Dies.

The branches and flowers are die cut using SU Seasonal
Layers Thinlits Dies.  The branches are done in
SU Soft Suede cardstock.  The flowers are done using
SU Shimmery White cardstock and highlighted using
SU Powder Pink and a sponge dauber.  Adhere the
branches first, add the flowers, and then, using mini
dimensionals adhere the 2 birds to the branches.  The
third bird will be placed on the inside of the card,
see photo below.

The sentiment is also done on SU Shimmery White
cardstock about 2 1/2 x 3/4, use the
sentiment of your choice.

This photo shows the inside of the card.  Adhere
the bird using Tombow glue.  You can make a
fourth bird for the envelope.
I didn't use any sentiment, leaving it up
to the participants choice.  Many people don't like
to use sentiments on the inside of the card.
They prefer to write their own
note to the person receiving the card.

Supplies:
Paper:
Whisper White Thick - card base, 5 ½ x 8 ½, scored @ 4 ¼ and 5 ½ x 1 ¾ embossed vine piece;
Soft Sky (R) or Balmy Blue - to emboss front panel, 5 ½ x 4 ¼;
Shimmery White - 2 ½ x ¾ for the sentiment and  3 x 4 to die cut 5 flowers for front panel;
Soft Suede -  6 x 3 to die cut 2 tree branches,;
Whisper White - 5 x 3 to stamp and  die cut 3-4 birds  ;
Whisper White envelope
Ink:
Memento Black to stamp the 3 - 4 birds and sentiment
SU Stampin’ Blends:
Cherry Cobbler Light for breast of bird & Lift Off Pen to lighten, and Pink Pirouette Light for inside of flowers
Stamps:
SU Petal Palette to stamp the birds
SU Colorful Seasons to stamp the sentiment
Other:
SU Seasonal Layers Thinlits & Petals and More Thinlits
SU Petal Pair & Softly Falling Embossing Folders

Come Stamp With Me Stylish Christmas Poinsettia Card

This is the last post for the August Come Stamp With Me "Fun Techniques" class and the first Christmas card post.  I have always liked the three layer technique for cards and I hadn't seen one that was offset before.  I decided to try this style of the three layer technique and really do like it.

Normally, the three layer technique takes up the
whole front of the card with the front of the card
acting as the last border.  Then each preceding
layer is 1/4" smaller than the one below it.
With this offset technique, each layer is a different
size and there are three distinct borders separate
from the front of the card.

The front of the card is embossed using
SU Subtle Embossing Folder.  I really like
the look this gives to the card.  It adds some
subtle texture and a pop to the front of the card.

This card is made using two of the new Stampin' Up
colors; Merry Merlot and Shaded Spruce.
To stamp the Poinsettias, I stamped off on grid paper
and then stamped on the Whisper White cardstock. I
liked the effect better than a full on stamp of the poinsettia.
Then I filled in stamping the leaves.  For the leaves,
I did stamp them using the full ink.  You can leave
some white spaces or very lightly shade in using
a sponge dauber and the Merry Merlot ink to fill in the blank space.

For the class, I decided to use a Shimmery White label
for the front sentiment.  The participants liked
that option better.  You can play with different
color and see what happens.  I really like this
Stylish Christmas stamp set which can be found
in the Annual Catalog and is available until
at least next May.

The silver swirls were die cut using
SU Swirly Snowflake Dies.

This is the inside of the card.  I think it could be another
card in the making using this stamp set.  I also
did this same look for the front of the envelope.

Supplies:
Paper
Merry Merlot Cardstock – 5 ½ x 8 ½, scored @ 4 ¼ for the card base
Shaded Spruce Cardstock – 5 ¼ x 4 for the inside panel; 4 ¾ x 2 ¼, 3 ¾ x 2 ¾, & 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 for front layering panels
Shimmery White Cardstock – 4 ½ x 2, 3 ½ x 2 ½, & 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 for front layering panels; small scrap to punch scalloped oval for the front sentiment
Very Vanilla Cardstock – 5 x 3 ¾ for inside panel
Silver Foil Cardstock – 2 x 3 to die cut the 3 small scroll pieces for the front of the card
Very Vanilla Envelope
Ink
Merry Merlot
Shaded Spruce
Stamps
Stylish Christmas – to stamp Poinsettia and Leaves
Nature Sings – to stamp front sentiment
Other
Swirly Snowflake Dies to cut the small scrolls
Sponge Daubers to fill in and highlight the Shimmery White front layering panels
Rhinestones or Pearls

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card and thinking about what cards you can make to send out this Christmas or for another December holiday.   Please leave a comment if you have any questions about the card, Come Stamp With Me Classes, or how to purchase Stampin' Up products.  I hope you have a creative day.

Come Stamp With Me Dragonfly Fun Fold Card - August Fun Techniques Class

This is my third post for the CSWM August Fun Techniques Class.  I am designing a different fold technique card for each of my classes.  This card uses a pull-out fold technique that makes a fun card to open up.  This card was inspired by another demonstrator and I changed up the colors of the card.  I have lost her name and will post it if I find it as I believe it is important to credit other demonstrators and their creativity.  She also has a video showing how she created this card.

This is the front of the card.  The organza ribbon
is slid under the dragonfly and tied at the side
in a bow to hold the card closed.  You can
eliminate the ribbon and the card will
not lay flat, it will slightly pop up, your choice.

This is how the card looks when you first
open it.  The dragonfly panel sits on top of the
folded Whisper White inside panel.  To make the
dragonfly panel, use a SU Whisper White 3 x 3 panel;
stamp it in SU Bermuda Bay ink using the SU Bokeh Dots
stamp set.  You will need to stamp more than once.
Then using the fern stamp from the retired SU
Butterfly Basics stamp set and SU Mint Macaron ink,
stamp randomly until you like the pattern you create.
Remember to stamp off the edge in different spots.
Using a sponge dauber and SU Bermuda Bay ink,
edge the 3 x 3 panel.  Then adhere the 3 x 3 panel
to the 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 SU Basic Black panel, set aside.

This is the inside panel of the card when it is opened up.
To make this folded panel, cut a 6 x 5 SU Whisper White
piece and score on the 6" side at 2 and 4; do not fold and burnish yet.
Find the mountain fold side of the piece and do the stamping.
The dragonfly is from the SU Dragonfly Dreams stamp set
is stamped in the bottom left corner in
SU Bermuda Bay ink.  You can also stamp the dragonfly
on the left bottom corner of your envelope.  The sentiment is
stamped in Memento Black using the SU Painted Harvest
stamp set.  Also stamp the sentiment on the front of the card
using the sentiment from SU Dragonfly Dreams and Memento Black ink.

Now, fold and burnish the 6 x 5 panel; fold toward the left panel first,
then fold the right panel towards the back of the middle panel.  See
the photo for how it should look.

Adhere only the left panel with the dragonfly to the inside of the card.
The middle and right panels should be loose and unattached.
Fold the panel down and lay the dragonfly panel on top of the right panel.
Close the front of the card to see if your dragonfly panel
is placed correctly and adjust before you adhere it to the folded panel.
Once you have it where you want,
make very light pencil marks at top and bottom so you know
where to adhere.  Only add glue to the left side of the dragonfly panel
as you don't want it stuck to the inside of the card or it won't
pull-out, yikes.

Now, take the die cut silver foil dragonfly, place a SU dimensional on the
back of the body and place the dragonfly on the panel with the
front of the card closed.  That way you place the dragonfly so
it won't interfere with opening the card.  Take the 17" organza ribbon
and wrap it around the card, going under the dragonfly and tie
a bow on the right side of the card.

Supplies:
Paper
Bermuda Bay Cardstock – 5 ½ x 8 ½, scored @ 4 ¼ for card base; the front of the card will have a 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ square cut out
Whisper White Cardstock – 6 x 5 for inside fold, scored on the 6 side @ 2 and 4; 3 x 3 stamped with Bokeh Dots stamp in Bermuda Bay for dragonfly panel
Basic Black Cardstock – 3 ½ x 3 ½ for the dragonfly panel
Silver Foil Cardstock – 3 ½ x 3 ½ to die cut the dragonfly
Whisper White envelope
Ink
Bermuda Bay – to stamp the Bokeh Dots stamp on dragonfly panel; to stamp the dragonfly on the inside panel and envelope (optional)
Mint Macaron – to stamp the fern on the Bokeh dragonfly panel
Memento Black – to stamp the front and inside sentiments
Stamps   Other stamp options will be available
Dragonfly Dreams – to stamp the dragonfly and the front sentiment
Bokeh Dots – to stamp the dragonfly panel
Butterfly Basics (retired) – to stamp the fern on the dragonfly panel
Painted Harvest – to stamp the inside sentiment
Other
Organza Ribbon – 17” to wrap around the card
Detailed Dragonfly Dies - to cut the dragonfly
Sponge Daubers

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card and that it has inspired you to make your own pull-out card.  Please comment if you have any questions about the card, the Come Stamp With Me classes, or how to purchase Stampin' Up Products.

CSWM Girl on the Beach Card

Sorry, I missed last week.  Both my husband and I ended up having health issues that had to be dealt with immediately.  I was busy resting and helping my husband with his health issues.  We are back on track, through taking better care of ourselves.

This is my second post for the August Come Stamp With Me "Fun Techniques" Class.  This was a great class and we all had fun.  This card was a hit and a favorite among the participants.  A couple of them talked about framing their card and using it as a home décor item.  I love when we can find multi purposes for the cards or projects we make.   I love this card and have made it in different ways a couple of times.  I hope you enjoy it too.

This card takes me to the beach on the Oregon Coast.
I can hear the birds and smell the ocean breezes.  It
makes me happy....  This is a 5 x 7 card using SU
Whisper White ( 6 3/4 x 4 3/4) to create the beach scene.

This card is made using the SU High Tide and Beautiful You
stamp sets. The first thing I stamped was the dancing
girl from the SU Beautiful You stamp set
in Black Memento towards the left of the card.
I then put a paper mask over her so she stood
on her own without taking on the background colors.

The sand dune is created using two
of the sand & grass stamps from the SU High Tide
stamp set and SU Crumb Cake.  I added more color
to create texture.  I then added the seagrass in
SU Soft Suede, mostly stamped off for a lighter
color, although you can see where I forgot to stamp off.
Some people liked the darker seagrass and didn't stamp off.
It is so much fun when people do their own creative ideas
and share them with others.  This happens a lot in the
Come Stamp With Me Classes.  We are all there to
support each other, be creative, and have fun!

Next, I created the sky and sea.  First, I used a piece
of scrap paper to create a mask for the sand dunes.
Using a sponge dauber and SU Balmy Blue ink,
I lightly laid a base for the sky and sea.  Go in a
circular pattern, starting off the edge of the paper.
Lift off the dauber in some areas, you can see
it looks like soft clouds are in the sky.

Then, I used the water stamp from the SU High Tide
stamp set and SU Coastal Cabana ink to create the sea.
Think about creating a horizon between the sky and sea.
Then go for it, I stamped off in some areas and stamped
full on in order to create texture and movement of the sea.
Just play with this until you get the look you like.

Then the last thing to stamp are the birds and
any other sentiment you want to add in SU Soft Suede.
Then using the sponge daubers and SU Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake
inks, edge the border of the beach scene.

Remove the mask from the dancing girl and color in her
dress and hat using SU Stampin' Blends.  I used Flirty Flamingo
and Pineapple Punch on this card.  The class participants went
wild and there were different designs and colors on every card.
People loved sharing their ideas and then using someone else's
creative idea.  We had polka dots, mixed colors, one red dress and one
purple dress.  They were all awesome.  I learn so much at these classes.

Now, the fun part...using SU Alphabet Dies, create a word of
your choice, that is 5 letters or less.  Some examples are:
Smile, Happy, Dance, Love, Hugs, Thank, and on...
You lay out the letters across the beach scene and
cut the word out using a Big Shot machine.

Adhere the Beach Scene layer to the Balmy Blue layer.
Using SU Dimensionals place each letter back into the
negative space on the front layer.  I love this technique
and it can be done for many different cards.  You just
create a background or scene, die cut the word, stamp
additional words, like the "You Are Loved" on the card.
I'm thinking of creating a Christmas Card using this technique.
What ideas do you have?  I would love to hear about them.

I apologize for not having photos of the inside of the card and
the envelope.  On the inside, I recreated the sand dunes, leaving
a spot to add a die cut Adirondack chair using SU Wood Textures DSP
and SU Seasonal Layers Thinlits Die.

On the envelope, I created the sand dunes again to give a
hint of what is inside the envelope.

Supplies:
Paper
Crumb Cake Cardstock – 7 x 10, score @ 5 for card base (5x7)
Balmy Blue Cardstock – 6 7/8 x 4 7/8; front border layer
Whisper White Cardstock – two 6 ¾ x 4 ¾; one for front layer and one for inside layer
Wood Textures DSP – 2 ¼ x 1 7/8 to die cut the Adirondack Chair for inside layer
Stamping Mask Paper – stamp and cut out the dancing woman to use as a mask for the front layer
Scrap Paper to use as a mask for the sky and sea
5 x 7 envelope
 Ink
Memento Black to stamp dancing woman
Crumb Cake to stamp the sand dune and edge the panel
Soft Suede to stamp grass on the sand dune (stamp off); full color for the birds and sentiments on the front and inside (optional)
Balmy Blue to add the sky and base of sea, using a sponge dauber and to edge the front panel
Coastal Cabana to stamp in the sea, some stamped off and some full
Stampin’ Blends – Pineapple Punch for the hat on the woman with the Calypso Coral dress; Mango Melody for the hat with the Flirty Flamingo dress
Stamps
Blossoming Basket – “You Are Loved” Sentiment and Make A Difference – “Birthday”; there will be other options for you to select
Other
Alphabet Dies – to die cut word options; Happy, Smile, Thank, Dance, Hello, Life, Love, Hugs, or other 3-5 letter words.
