Come Stamp With Me Dragonfly Fun Fold Card - August Fun Techniques Class

This is my third post for the CSWM August Fun Techniques Class.  I am designing a different fold technique card for each of my classes.  This card uses a pull-out fold technique that makes a fun card to open up.  This card was inspired by another demonstrator and I changed up the colors of the card.  I have lost her name and will post it if I find it as I believe it is important to credit other demonstrators and their creativity.  She also has a video showing how she created this card.

This is the front of the card.  The organza ribbon
is slid under the dragonfly and tied at the side
in a bow to hold the card closed.  You can
eliminate the ribbon and the card will
not lay flat, it will slightly pop up, your choice.

This is how the card looks when you first
open it.  The dragonfly panel sits on top of the
folded Whisper White inside panel.  To make the
dragonfly panel, use a SU Whisper White 3 x 3 panel;
stamp it in SU Bermuda Bay ink using the SU Bokeh Dots
stamp set.  You will need to stamp more than once.
Then using the fern stamp from the retired SU
Butterfly Basics stamp set and SU Mint Macaron ink,
stamp randomly until you like the pattern you create.
Remember to stamp off the edge in different spots.
Using a sponge dauber and SU Bermuda Bay ink,
edge the 3 x 3 panel.  Then adhere the 3 x 3 panel
to the 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 SU Basic Black panel, set aside.

This is the inside panel of the card when it is opened up.
To make this folded panel, cut a 6 x 5 SU Whisper White
piece and score on the 6" side at 2 and 4; do not fold and burnish yet.
Find the mountain fold side of the piece and do the stamping.
The dragonfly is from the SU Dragonfly Dreams stamp set
is stamped in the bottom left corner in
SU Bermuda Bay ink.  You can also stamp the dragonfly
on the left bottom corner of your envelope.  The sentiment is
stamped in Memento Black using the SU Painted Harvest
stamp set.  Also stamp the sentiment on the front of the card
using the sentiment from SU Dragonfly Dreams and Memento Black ink.

Now, fold and burnish the 6 x 5 panel; fold toward the left panel first,
then fold the right panel towards the back of the middle panel.  See
the photo for how it should look.

Adhere only the left panel with the dragonfly to the inside of the card.
The middle and right panels should be loose and unattached.
Fold the panel down and lay the dragonfly panel on top of the right panel.
Close the front of the card to see if your dragonfly panel
is placed correctly and adjust before you adhere it to the folded panel.
Once you have it where you want,
make very light pencil marks at top and bottom so you know
where to adhere.  Only add glue to the left side of the dragonfly panel
as you don't want it stuck to the inside of the card or it won't
pull-out, yikes.

Now, take the die cut silver foil dragonfly, place a SU dimensional on the
back of the body and place the dragonfly on the panel with the
front of the card closed.  That way you place the dragonfly so
it won't interfere with opening the card.  Take the 17" organza ribbon
and wrap it around the card, going under the dragonfly and tie
a bow on the right side of the card.

Three Fold Window Card

For my July "Come Stamp With Me Class", there was a focus on Special Occasions Cards and it included at least one special folded card technique, which will be continued in my monthly classes.  Today's post features a three fold window card that can be used for many different occasions; wedding, sympathy, birthday, bridal shower, thank you, retirement, anniversary, and graduation for a few examples.  I really enjoy learning and sharing new techniques for card making.  Today's card was inspired by Jan Brown, a Stampin' Up Independent Demonstrator.  She has a video on You Tube that will give you the step by step instructions on how to complete this project as a 6 x 6 card.  My card is a 5 1/2 x 3 5/8, adapted to be able to use 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, see dimensions and brief instructions below.

This is a card sample of a wedding card with the envelope; showing the card closed.

This shows the wedding card open; going from left to right - front panel, middle panel, and sentiment panel

This is the same card using "With Sympathy" sentiments. I colored the floral panel on the envelope using a sponge dauber; So Saffron for the flowers and Mint Macaron for the leaves.

The butterfly on the front of the card was created by using the Brusho Crystal Colors (mainly  yellow, some blue and just a tad of gamboge orange) on Shimmery White cardstock and spritzing it with water, adding color I got what I liked.  Then I die cut one butterfly from the Brusho Color cardstock and one from So Saffron.  I attached the Brusho butterfly on top of the So Saffron butterfly the middle only with a glue dot.  This way when you open the card you see the butterfly and not the back of the Brusho cardstock. The butterfly is attached to the front window using a glue dot, and placed so the top part is showing in the window opening.

Card Supplies:

SU So Saffron Cardstock – 5 ½ x 10 7/8, score @ 3 5/8 & 7 ¼ for card base; small piece to die cut butterfly

SU Very Vanilla Cardstock – ½ of a sheet to die cut the window frames and sentiment oval

SU Shimmery White Cardstock – ¼ of a sheet to die cut 2 floral corners and 3 flower sprigs; ¼ of a sheet to watercolor with Brusho Colors (yellow, blue, gamboge) to die cut butterfly

SU Very Vanilla Envelope

Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the sentiments on inside of card and envelope

SU So Saffron and SU Mint Macaron ink to color the floral corner on the envelope; optional to do the same to any of the flowers on the card, there will be less contrast if you do this

SU Rose Wonder Stamp Set (retired) for the sentiments on the card; you can choose alternative stamp sentiment options

SU Layering Oval Dies, SU Stitched Shape Framelits, SU Petals & More Thinlits, & Catherine Pooler Beautiful World Dies (butterfly)

Sponge Daubers

I plan to post at least twice a week; Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I may post more often and will let you know if that is happening.  If you have any questions about these cards, my monthly Come Stamp With Me classes, or how to purchase Stampin' Up (SU) products, please leave a comment and I will get back to you.
